This book caught my attention because it is very different. R.J. Palacio decided to make a book of precepts. I quote “According to Merriam- Webster, a precept is ‘a command or principle intended especially as a general rule of action.’

Some examples are:

January 26 – Be yourself, everyone else is already taken. (Oscar Wilde)

February 12 – Man can learn nothing unless he proceeds from the known to the unknown. (Claude Bernard)

February 16 – Those who try to do something and fail are infinitely better than those who try to do nothing and succeed. (Lloyd Jones)

March 24 – The man who moves a mountain must start by moving small stones. (Chinese Proverb)

April 18 – The goal of life is to make your heartbeat match the heartbeat of the universe, to match your nature with Nature. (Joseph Campbell)

May 11 – If plan “A” doesn’t work, just remember that the alphabet has 25 more letters. (Unknown)

June 2 – Ignorance isn’t saying , I don’t know. Ignorance is saying , I don’t want to know. (Unknown)

Today (June 21) – The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it’s too low and we reach it. (Michelangelo Buonarroti)

July 5 – Shoot for the moon, because even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars. (Les Brown)

August 6 – Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying “I will try again tomorrow”  (Mary Anne Radmacher)

September 13 – Find beauty in the world, and the world will find beauty in you. (Zöe)

October 1 – Your deeds are your monuments (Inscription on an Egyptian tomb)

November 8 – When life gives you lemons, make orange juice (J.J)

December 11 – All our dreams can come true – if we have the courage to pursue them ( Walt Disney)

My Own – You can do nothing unless you turn the impossible into the possible

By the way, I would be glad to tell you the precept for a certain date. Tell me the day in the comments, and I will share the precept.
