“You must remember, family is often born of blood, but it doesn’t depend on blood. Nor is it exclusive of friendship. Family members can be your best friends, you know. And best friends, whether or not they are related to you, can be your family.”
“Are you a gifted child looking for special opportunities?”
Dozens of children respond to this peculiar ad in the newspaper and are then put through a series of mind-bending tests, which readers take along with them. Only four children-two boys and two girls-succeed. Their challenge: to go on a secret mission that only the most intelligent and inventive children could complete. To accomplish it they will have to go undercover at the Learning Institute for the Very Enlightened, where the only rule is that there are no rules. But what they’ll find in the hidden underground tunnels of the school is more than your average school supplies. So, if you’re gifted, creative, or happen to know Morse Code, they could probably use your help.
Before I begin, let me make this very clear: THIS BOOK WAS HORRIBLE!
okay. Maybe I was slightly dramatic there. Let’s start over.
I was required to read this for school. I don’t know what it is, but whenever I have to read a book for school IT IS BAD. It is like they deliberately pick the worst book EVER.
When I first read the back cover, I was like “Okay. This seems like a decent enough book.”
And boy was I wrong. But don’t let me influence your decision to read this book. Take a look at the pdf below…
“May your adventures bring you closer together, even as they take you far away from home.”
“Rules and school are tools for fools! I don’t give two mules for rules.”
“Oh, here’s a clever one. Do you remember this question from the first test? It reads, ‘What’s wrong with this statement?’ And do you know what Constance wrote in reply? She wrote, ‘What’s wrong with you?”
“Is this what family is like: the feeling that everyone’s connected, that with one piece missing, the whole thing’s broken?”
“Children are capable of such open rudeness.”
“Every great thinker keeps a journal, you know.”
“And please don’t call me that.”
I didn’t call you ‘that’, I called you George Washington.”

*If you are unaware, I have a video on how to use Indie Bound as a resource on how to find books
**Also, if you have a Windows Phone, there is a really good EPUB reader app called Bookviser Reader. You can check out their website here.
