“True love is usually the most inconvenient kind.”
For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.
But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn’t want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.
Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she’s made for herself—and realizes that the life she’s always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.
So recently I was a library aide, and I helped people check out books, shelved books, checked in books, etc. And at least once a week, I would see a book from The Selection Series. When I say this series is popular, I mean it is popular. So one day I asked a girl who was reading the book, and I asked if it was good. She told me that it was really good, but you have to like romance to like it. And you probably know that I love romance. So I decided yesterday to see what all the fuss is about. Honestly, as a romance-fan, it was a pretty good book. It was slightly cliché, here and there, and I have my personal opinion about how a lot of the scenes played out, but overall a 4/5. Though, honestly, I would have kept this as a trilogy, rather than a five book series. I can see how some would like to see this world be played out into many books, but I honestly think a trilogy is as far as you can get keeping the readers’ interest. We’ll see. ????
“I hope you find someone you can’t live without.I really do. And I hope you never have to know what it’s like to have to try and live without them.”
“No, I’m not choosing him or you. I’m choosing me.”
“It’s always the fear of looking stupid that stops you from being awesome.”
“If you don’t want me to be in love with you, you’re going to have to stop looking so lovely. First thing tomorrow I’m having your maids sew some potato sacks together for you.”
“America Singer, one day you will fall asleep in my arms every night. And you’ll wake up to my kisses every morning.”

*If you are unaware, I have a video on how to use Indie Bound as a resource on how to find books
**Also, if you have a Windows Phone, there is a really good EPUB reader app called Bookviser Reader. You can check out their website here.
